WHAT IS FLORIDA EQUINE ATHLETE??

The Florida Equine Athlete is a magazine for the barrel racers in the state. It was started in 2004 as part of my PhD work. The dissertation research was an exploratory, comparative study on women athletes and women business entrepreneurs. The barrel racer was used as the target athlete. The ability to communicate the valuable information obtained to fellow barrel racers was needed and therefore, it became an additional factor in the production of the magazine. Articles are written on business strategies that were found while completing my PhD.The vision for the magazine is not to be just an ordinary horse magazine. It is intended to be not only information with barrel racing needs but also, to be educational too. It is subscriber based only and now has members outside of Florida such as Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, Georgia, and S. Carolina. Recently, it has been changed to an online magazine and has had a lot of positive response. Everyone loves it, especially, since pictures are in color and they are clearer too. So, is the availability to produce more pages and write more information. In addition, there is no middleman.
What are the benefits of being a family member with Florida Equine Athlete?? • First is the ability to read educational articles of business strategies. For example, articles have been written on sponsorships, which has benefited many barrel racers.•
Second, to stay informed of statistical information (results, standings, calendar dates, and other information) of most organizations in the state and enjoy seeing your name in the magazine.•
Third, is the ability to read articles on training tips and care written by Tina Spangler.•
Fourth, the ability to read interviews of various barrel racers in the state written by Tina Spangler and also by Melissa Greer, PhD. Section is called Barrel Racing Buddies•
Fifth, read on Miscellaneous articles written for the Florida Barrel Racer’s enjoyment, educational, and informational needs.• Sixth
, read stories and view pictures of barrel racing event functions that took place around Florida. You may find a picture of you and your equine partner.-

Florida Equine Athlete has also expanded services to provide videos of competitors runs. While at the shows, videos are taken of each run and the contestants can view them at the arena. Orders can be taken for their runs to be put on DVD or CD. These runs are put in movie form that contains the original run and that run in slow motion.

This circuit provides Open Polebending, Youth Polebending, Senior Polebending, and Open Barrels. All events are 3D with a one second split.Melissa Greer, Ph.D. is, also, now the President of the Sunshine Barrel Racers Association.My Ph.D research "An Exploratory, Comparative Study on Women Athletes and Women Who Own Their Own Businesses" has been published into a book and workshops and seminars are currently in the process of being designed.
Florida Equine Athlete is now expanded in to Texas with the Texas Equine Athlete. Currently, it is added into the Florida Equine athlete magazine; however, the vision is to put it in its own magazine in the future.
