5. The circuit year will run April- March with finals being in March or April (when can find available date).
6. If you have a problem needing resolved, please bring it to the attention of Melissa Greer, Ph.D. But, please wait till after the show or at a convenient time. During the show, please do not come up to the announcer's booth ranting and raving. Please stay professional. 7. Youth riders MUST have an affidavit completed.8. If Polebending or barrel pattern is broken, it will be an automatic disqualification and a no time will be recorded.
9. A competitor will receive a 5 second penalty for each barrel or pole knocked down. 10. Membership fees can be paid by check, cash, or money order. There will be a $25 insufficient check fee for returned checks.11. The Polebending pattern requirements: 21¡¯ between each pole and 21¡¯ from the starting/finishing line to the very first pole in the
setup of the pattern. 12. You do not have to be a member of the Florida Equine Athlete (FEPC) to compete; however, to accumulate points and pursue Finals you must be a current FEPC member. The top 10 in each division for each class will go to finals. However, the top 5 in each division and in each class will be awarded. 13. All contestants, family members, spectators, basically everyone, is responsible for their own insurance. The Florida Equine Athlete (Florida Equine Polebenders Circuit); Melissa Greer, Ph.D.; helpers; employees; and/or host arenas are NOT responsible or liable for any losses, damages, death, injuries, and/ or stolen items to (or of ) a horse (or any animal), contestant, family member, or spectator. All contestants are responsible for their OWN insurance. This includes while driving to the function, while at the function, and driving from the function. 14. If 2 people tied for a certain place in the top 10, both will compete at the finals. In the event there is a tie of 3 or more people for a certain place in the top 10 to go to finals, a run off will take place and the top 2 will go to the finals. If a person does not show for the runoff, it is an automatic forfeit. 15. If a person within the field of 10 cannot attend the State fnals, he/she must let Melissa L. Greer, Ph.D. know so, the list can be moved up accordingly.16. The allocation of purses between divisions are as follows: 1D-50%, 2D-30% and 3D-20%.If have a 4D payout for barrels, allocation is 1D - 50% 2D - 25% 3D - 15% 4D - 10%
17. If a division has no qualified rider, the money for that division is split 50/50 between the other two divisions. If there is only one winner in a division, he or she will win that division's pot money
18. A horse and rider will run in the specific division that he or she qualified in with the most points for the finals. If a person qualified in two or more divisions, he/she will run in the highest division with the most points qualified in. For example, one qualifies in the 1D with 35 points and the 3D with 40 points, the finalist will run in the 3D because 40 points was earned as the highest earned.
19. All finalists are responsible for a $50 sponsorship fee due 2 months before finals as stated on the membership application. For the year ending in 2010, it is planned to have the finals in April. Tentative location is River Ranch; however, this is being worked on at the current time.
20. There will be 6 shows in the year. A member must compete at a minimum of 3 shows in order for points to count for finals.
21. The circuit has been revamped. It is no longer designated into circuits.
22. Any questions, contact Melissa Greer, Ph.D., president, founder, director. Office number is 863-984-8657; cell phone is 863-398-6802; email: floridaequineathlete@gmail.com
23. When the barrels class is a 4D payout, points will still be calculated as 3D with one second split for FEPC Standings.
24. If a member rides more than 2 horses, she or he will earn the points for the highest earned. For example, Say you are running two horses, one called Joshua and the other called Reba. You run and earn 10 points on Reba and 8 points on Joshua in the same class and division, you will receive the 10 points only. On the standings chart, for horse's name, both horses will be listed though. Points are NOT earned by the specific horse.
25. If an arena is found to host our show, it is expected to have members helping to set arena as it is hard for me to run announcer's booth, set barrels and poles, reset, etc. So, please help as much as you can. I do not want to have to designate rules to get people to help.
26. Chris Caldwell is our official tractor driver; however, sometimes, he will not be able to make it. If you can drive a tractor and know how to drag the arena, please let me know. So, I have some backups.
27. If something should happen to me (injury, death, etc), Kara Coates will help the organization to finish out. She is my VP for the Sunshine Barrel Racers Association.
28. It is intended to give Nice awards and saddles, etc; however, there may be times when saddles cannot be awarded at year end. If you know of anyone who would like to sponsor a saddle, please let me know. Sponsorship money for saddles is $800 for each.
