SBRA Rules and Payout

I. MEMBERSHIP

A.  Annual Membership is $50.00 (Fifty dollars). This is due before any points may begin accumulating

B..  S.B.R.A. year is from October – September

D. Finalists must pay $50 per class and/or division qualified in to help with awards.

E. There is a 4 show attendance requirement for all in order to stay in standings.

PBRA

F. The Sunshine Barrel Racers Association is also PBRA approved. PBRA is a sidepot to win extra money without the hauling expense. To enter, you fill out the PBRA entry card and pay $20. $17 goes to the pot. Money is sent to Tina Spangler, president of the PBRA and she mails checks out to winners by Thursday of that week.  You can also earn points for year end standings and awards with the PBRA.  New next year, to become a member for year end awards, a $10 fee is required.

IV.  DRESS CODE

A.  Jeans (pants) and shirts covering the stomach are required. No low cut shirts. Keep it respectful. Boots required. No flip flops, sandals, tenneshoes, shorts, halter tops, spaghetti straps.

V. GENERAL RULES

A.  Absolutely NO ALCHOLIC BEVERAGES!!
      1.  If anyone is caught with an alcoholic beverage, he/she will be told to leave and will not get a refund, will forfeit any winnings and/or points. If caught 2 times, membership is lost with points and no refund given of membership fees.
      2.  No foul language or abusive behavior allowed. May result in suspension of the S.B.R.A.with no refunds. 
      3.  The president has an open door policy; however, do not come in ranting and raving. We all are responsible, mature adults and unprofessional behavior is not tolerated.
      4.  No abusing of horses in any way is tolerated (or any animal that is at the show).
      5.  At the shows, please pick up your garbage. The president, person running concession stand, tractor driver, and/or other personnel is not your mother. Clean up after yourself.
      6.  In the event of a timer malfunction, the contestant will be granted a rerun. Any penalties will be disregarded from time timer malfunction run. Rerun to be at riders discretion before the completion of said class and or other class begins.
      7.   The Sunshine Barrel Racers Association, president,  helpers,members, arena hosts, employees, and/or families are not responsible for any damages, illness, or death to a horse, rider, or spectator.
      9.  Keep dogs on a leash. Dogs are not allowed in the concession stand area and/or barn area.
     10. Please keep an eye on all children. Do not allow them in the arena, alleyways, or any working area where they may get hurt.
     11.  The term S.B.R.A. means, "Sunshine Barrel Racers Assocation, Inc." 
     12.  It is the responsibility of the member to keep his or her address, phone number (with area code), and email current with office records.
     13. No children are allowed in the announcer's stand
     14. No playing, loud talking, etc is allowed in the announcer's stand.

15.  There is no riding around the arena during exhibitions. Only one exhibitor working the pattern is allowed. So, if you need to exhibition, please come on time to get it done. Exhibitions end 30 minutes prior to the show, in order to get the arena ready on time and allow the show to begin on time.

III. CLASSES

A.  Pee Wee Barrels - This class is for beginners only. Riders can be lead, held, or ride by themselves. Contestants will be given $5 for award. All riders are winners and will be acknowledged as so. All riders will receive an award at the awards banquet. This class is for ages 7 and under.

B.  Novice Horse 2D - 1/2 second split between divisions - This is for horses that have not had life time earnings that exceed $500. This includes 1D, 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D, 6D (and so forth), jackpots, etc. ABSOLUTELY NO SUBSTITUTIONS at any shows or finals. However, if a horse is sold, deceased, or cripples, and said horse is a top ten finalist, you can pay your entry fees, and still receive your awards.

     Contestant MUST sign affidavit 
    

C.  Youth Barrels - Riders must be 17 years and younger

      1.  Class is 3D format with one second split between divisions
      2.  Points are on the rider only .
     
D.  Open Barrels Class
 
       1. Open to any age - Male or Female
       2.  Points are on the rider only. If you run two horses that qualify in the 2D, the fastest time will be the one that earns the points.
      

PLEASE NOTE IN ALL CLASSES - IF YOU KNOCK A BARREL DOWN, YOU WILL RECEIVE A NO TIME AND NO PTS ARE EARNED.

VI.  SHOW FINALS REQUIREMENTS

A.  There is a 4 (four) show requirement that a member must attend for a member to be eligible for the finals
B    Top 5 will be awarded in each class/division
C    Each finalist must pay $50 (FIFTY DOLLARS) for each class division qualified in to help with awards. So, for example, if a contestant qualifies in the Open barrels 2D and youth 3D, the finalist is required to pay $100. President will make the announcement when this is due. You can either pay this yourself OR get a sponsor
E.     Finalists also have the choice to drop out of a certain class and/or division. If this happens, that specific division and/or class will be moved up. Finalist must notify the President three weeks before the finals giving the president enough time to notify the next in line.
F. Please note: Beginning this year, 2011-2012, there will be no specific finals. Your points will be earned throughout the year and after the last show in September, will determine the finalists after the points are calculated. If there is a tie for a certain place, we will have a runoff at the show in October to determine that placing. So, for example, say Jane Doe is tied with Mercy Me for 2nd place and Mercy Me wins the runoff, Mercy Me will take 2nd and Jane Doe will take 3rd moving the list down.

VII. AWARDS BANQUET

B. Banquet is held separately, from the finals (on another day) for a more relaxing atmosphere for dinner and enjoy each others fellowship or held at a more convenient time for everyone to attend.

VIII. Awards

A.    There are no saddles awarded

B.    Top 5 awarded in each division/class

C.    A member that is in the top 5 of each division must pay $50 for each class/division, he/she qualifies in. You can either pay this yourself OR get a sponsor.

VII. COMPETITION RULES

A.  A rider will receive a no time for a barrel knocked down. 

B.  No time will be given for a broken pattern.

C. Reruns will be given for a timer malfunction. No prior penalty will apply to the rerun.

ENTRY FEES:

Exhibitions - $4 each

Pee Wee Barrels is $10 for all - $5 goes back to winners. Everyone wins

Novice Horse & Open Classes are $25 for members - $28 for nonmembers

Youth classes are $20 for all

PLEASE BRING CASH SO CAN DO CASH PAYOUT!!  PLEASE BRING SMALL BILLS SO WILL HAVE ENOUGH CHANGE!

Payout

A.    Payback based on $25 entry fee

B.    $8.00 is withheld from each entry fee ($25) to cover administrative fees (expenses such as insurance, arena rental, tractor driver, barrel setters, added money, etc).

C.     For classes with 3D format, the percentage for each division is as follows:  1D = 50%   2D = 30%   3D = 20%

D.    For classes with 4D format, the percentage for each division is as follows:  1D = 35%  2D = 30%  3D = 20%  4D  = 15%

E. For classes with 2D format = 1D 60% 2D – 40%

F..  Percentage payouts in each class will depend on the number of entries:

Less than 1-20 - 100% for 1st place in each division

21-40 entries = 2 places paid in each division - % is 60/40

41-60 entries = 3 places paid in each division = 50/30/20

61-80 entries = 4 places paid in each division = 40/30/20/10

81-100 entries = 5 places paid in each division = 30/25/20/15/10

101 -+ entries = 6 places paid in each division = 28/22/18/14/10/8

Remember, Please note:

Novice Horse 2D – ½ second split between divisions.

Youth barrels – 1 second split between divisions

Open 4D – ½ second split for 2nd division; 1 second split for 3rd division; 2 second split for 4th division (this split is calculated from the 1D winning time.
